Government funding for a permanent memorial to the 72 people who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower fire has been approved by Parliament, clearing the way for the project to move forward. The memorial will be built on the site of the former tower in North Kensington, with architecture firm Freehaus appointed to lead the design in close collaboration with bereaved families and the local community. A final design is expected next year, while work to dismantle the remaining structure is due to be completed by the end of 2027.
